Review: Devil in Winter (Wallflowers #3) by Lisa Kleypas

Sunday, August 21
My rating:
5 Stars…

What I loved:
A Devil's Bargain

Easily the shyest Wallflower, Evangeline Jenner stands to become the wealthiest, once her inheritance comes due. Because she must first escape the clutches of her unscrupulous relatives, Evie has approached the rake Viscount St. Vincent with a most outrageous proposition: marriage!

Sebastian's reputation is so dangerous that thirty seconds alone with him will ruin any maiden's good name. Still, this bewitching chit appeared, unchaperoned, on his doorstep to offer her hand. Certainly an aristocrat with a fine eye for beauty could do far worse.

But Evie's proposal comes with a condition: no lovemaking after their wedding night. She will never become just another of the dashing libertine's callously discarded broken hearts—which means Sebastian will simply have to work harder at his seductions... or perhaps surrender his own heart for the very first time in the name of true love

This is my One. The book I can pick up with complete faith that it will make me happy. Sometimes I just read the dogeared pages for the hundredth time - sometimes I read the whole thing.

What I loved:
The alpha asshole redeeming himself goodness that is St. Vincent. The hidden strength in Evie. How their story unfolds. The writing - I guess that one goes without saying because Lisa Kleypas writes the ever-loving shit out of historical romance. Just everything, ok? I loved everything.

What I didn’t love:

For me, this is perfection. The knowledge that words on paper can make me feel this way - that is the reason I read like I do. I have other favourites in this genre, but I always go back to this one when my book slump is Grand Canyon deep.
